Axess AG supplies access system for FIFA World Cup-Stadium Cologne
The RheinEnergieStadion Cologne is one of 12 stadiums for the FIFA World Cup 2006 in
Germany. Its capacity amounts to approx. 51.000 seats and standing places, alternatively
46.000 seats for international games.
48 loges on two levels are to the sponsors disposal in the west terraces. Additional
VIP-areas as well as a television studio are located at the main terraces building. Fan
shops, restaurants and a museum are completing the facilities. The underground car park
offers 650 places and 7.600 parking places are available for fans.
The new Axess control system:
Entrance areas to RheinEnergieStadion are located at the corners of the stadium and will be
equipped with 68 reader terminals and turnstiles. For registration purposes in the VIP- and
lounges areas, “mobile” Terminals will be applied and operated by hostesses.
All ticket readers and turnstiles will be connected online to the central access
server.
Concerning the ticket technology: Generally, barcode tickets will be used. For club members
and season tickets, contactless SmartCards will be issued.
Via workstations, all entries at the entrances can be monitored in real time via the
central access server. Reports can be generated containing information on utilization, etc.
at all times on the entrance server, even during operation.
„We are proud to be able to implement a modern facility already this summer. Cologne
is the first Worldcup-stadium where this is done. Our reference installation in Stadium of
Salzburg and the good co-operation with Austria Salzburg have helped us a lot with the
acquisition” said COO Robert Gruber, responsible for the Axess stadium business.
„We are confident that one or more Worldcup-stadiums will follow. Current
negotiations are very promising.”
