The smooth entry of soccer fans and sport fans into stadia and arenas is very important to us. Because we are also at home in sport. And we know: Entry to the stadium needs to be quick: With our access system, a fan's entry ticket is checked in 0.1 seconds. There is no faster way.
In addition to speed, security is a significant factor for us and your guests. Therefore, we configure each access terminal flexibly for “entry” and “exit”. A stadium monitor gives an overview of the number of visitors in each sector at all times. The features of all Axess products for access control systems are based on the latest technology. And we develop solutions on a daily basis.

Almost every soccer fan knows that the home of Borussia Dortmund is the "Signal Iduna Park" stadium, as it is a symbol for pure, goosebump-inducing atmosphere. With approximately 1.3 million visitors per year over 17 league home matches, BVB is a world leader, particularly if you look at the average attendance: the soccer club's 80,000 spectators per game on average make for a veritable "cauldron".
BVB ranks as one of Europe's top clubs and is known primarily for its large fan base. 30,000 fans cheer their team on to excellent performances from the south stand terrace alone – the largest of its kind in Europe. These figures also show just what Axess systems have accomplished at such games since 2005, when the project started. In order to even get into the stadium, every single visitor must pass through an AX500 Smart Gate with a valid ticket. With about 80,000 fans and an entry period lasting two hours per game, there is plenty of activity at the turnstiles. Which is why it is even the more important that the entry runs absolutely smooth, so that all fans can get to their places in time.
Axess, with a total of 171 access routes – consisting of entries, exits and also car park routes – ensures controlled and optimum access for the entire stadium (including various extensions carried out in 2014):
Major events attended by large numbers of people – such as the 2006 World Cup, when the stadium was one of the venues – also require appropriate emergency exits and escape options. For this purpose all Borussia Dortmund turnstiles have been equipped with a so-called "panic mechanism function", so that in an emergency, the arms automatically fold away at the touch of a button and the turnstile can be used as an escape route. In addition, the structural separations between the gates collapse into the ground – the "Collapsible Lane Dividers" – allowing for a rapid departure from the stadium. These were developed specifically for Dortmund at the start of the project in 2005 (TÜV certified) in order to provide ideal widened opportunities to escape in the event of an emergency.
